Fast and Stable Data Storage

P-1 precisely logs each and every data of your track with its advanced optimization algorithm running on a fast, stable, and ultra-low-power ARM processor. It records massive volume of data with dependability better than 99.998%* for a long time period.
Columbus data logger series have provided stable and efficient logging at a very low failure rate since its launch in 2009.

*Based on our test results. Waypoints are lost at a probability of less than 0.002%, or no more than 1 out of every 50,000 records.

Superior Materials

P-1 is designed with robustness and durability in mind. It boasts a precisely structured case enclosing tightly fitted components. Its buttons and card slots from Alps Electric Japan provide long-lasting and comfortable manipulation. The buttons even guarantee 100,000 or more cycles of operation.
Built with ABS+PC material at a special ratio, the case is 50% more resistant to abrasion*.
All connections between the buttons and the case, as well as the rubber cover at the bottom, are sealed to shield out water and dust in any extreme weather.

Fast and Accurate Positioning Performance

Excellent GPS device is reflected in the fast, stable and accurate positioning.
P-1 is equipped with the latest GPS RF front-end and baseband processing modules, with a specially designed micro strip receive antenna for fast positioning performance. In addition, P-1 uses Columbus' EPS4 technology* and supports DGPS.
Combining the most advanced hardware and software configurations, P-1 performs well in positioning performance, and is positioned quickly and stably in various working environments, such as in the city and suburbs, and guarantees a high level of precision in the industry.

*EPS4 is the Enhanced Positioning System 4th Gen. The fourth generation of enhanced assisted positioning technology developed by Columbus uses intelligently optimized algorithms to minimize drifting in the quiescent state while improving the tracking of dynamic.

Static drifting test

Test purpose: When P-1 is stationary, less drifting can significantly reduce redundant data.
Test time: UTC 2018-11-11 21:30 ~ 06:00 Test duration: 8 hours and 30 minutes

Device: P-1. Configuration: 1Hz, SpeedMask=1.

Device without EPS.

Moving test

Test purpose: The closer the track recorded by P-1 to its actual running track, the more faithful it records its true position.
Test time: UTC 2018-11-21 21:00 Average speed: 20km/h

Device: P-1. Configuration: 1Hz.

Device without EPS.

Reliable Storage and Reading

Storage performance of a professional data logger is vital to ensure its stable logging and dependable storage over a long term.
P-1 uses a MicroSD card and supports massive-capacity SDXC cards. If equipped with 32GB capacity, it allows prolonged storage of about 580 million waypoints (CSV format) in a secured and dependable manner.
The storage is readily accessible through any plug-and-play USB port, providing seamless compatibility with Windows, Mac OS and Linux that enables you to quickly read tracks across these platforms.
To facilitate statistics and management of massive volume of data collected in a long time period, P-1 neatly arranges its logs by automatically naming track files after date and time and track folders after year and month.

CSV, GPX and NMEA

P-1 offers three original track format for selection: CSV, GPX and NMEA, which is convenient for secondary development and application.
The three formats can also be converted to each other through the tool software “Time Album Pro”.
